Advisory Board Member: Nancy Nuell

Ms. Nancy J. Nuell is the Director of Business Development and Grants at Montgomery College.  Ms. Nuell’s job responsibilities are quite varied and include seeking federal and state grants, private support, and building partnerships in support of the College’s high priority entrepreneurial programming and core academic initiatives. 

Ms. Nuell joined Montgomery College in 1989 and has worked at each of the campuses during her tenure at the College.  In her 19 years at the College, Ms. Nuell has served as the Collegewide Director of Educational Support Services, and then as Director of Information Technology. After a professional development experience in 2002 working at the Morino Institute, a non-profit dedicated to stimulating entrepreneurship and advancing social philanthropy, Ms. Nuell assumed the leadership role in the Office of Business Development and Grants. 

Prior to joining Montgomery College in 1989, Ms. Nuell worked at the University of Maryland at Baltimore as a regional development coordinator for the National Library of Medicine’s Regional Medical Library program, assisting healthcare professionals with identification of funding and resource sharing opportunities to enhance medical services in rural areas. 

Ms. Nuell earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Michigan and a Master of Science degree in Information Science from the University of Illinois.  She is also a 2005 graduate of the Community College Leadership Fellows program sponsored by the Maryland Association of Community Colleges, and is a Past- President of the Potomac Rotary Club in Potomac, Maryland as well as an Area Governor for Rotary District 7620.  Ms. Nuell has taught Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship at the college level and has served  as an academic advisor for the Montgomery College Rotaract Club.  She is an active member of the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship, and the Council for Resource Development, and has served as a leader for the Council’s Federal Funding Task Force.  Most recently, Ms. Nuell has been appointed to the Loudoun County Library System Board of Trustees for a four-year term, representing the Potomac District and she is currently serving as the Board’s Vice-Chair.
